We've been struggling with our daily jobs around here lately. I can trace it to two causes: unclear expectations and lack of inspection from me. Deciding that I needed a shot in the arm as much, or more than the children, I recently purchased Managers of Their Chores by Steve and Terry Maxwell.
I've used their Managers of Their Homes book for years to create our schedule, and figured that they would have some wisdom for me to maximize our daily job-time.
I've spent most of my Mother's Day working through some of the steps to create a new chore system. I'm pretty excited! I've assigned jobs that had previously been neglected and been able to distribute the jobs more fairly across the children.
I hope to make our "ChorePacks" in the next couple days and put the program in place by the end of the week. Stay tuned for how it works for us!
Can't wait to see it! Stop by my blog sometime...I miss hearing from you lady! :) Hope all will slow down now that your busy month is over. Ready to be done with school and then we are making a trip to the farm! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear it! I so want this book! :) I recently purchased Managers of Their Homes and have almost finished creating our schedule. My little ones are 5, 3, 2 and 10 months (another due in December) and our home is chaotic, so I really need some help! I am really thinking I should have ordered Managers of Their Chores as well, so I will be interested to see how it works for you!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear how this works out. I've been eyeing this book for sometime. Thankfully Kim P. gave me her Managers of Their Homes as she wasn't using it.
ReplyDeleteI'm very interested too - I feel like I'm drowning some days and don't know where to begin. The kids are helpful, but need direction and I sometimes get caught up in doing and not showing. Can't wait to hear!
